Africa-Press – Angola. The UNITA Parliamentary Group on Wednesday suggested to the Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL), the requalification of the Central Morgue in the country’s capital, adjacent to the Josina Machel Hospital, aiming to improve the operating conditions of the space.
At a press conference, the president of the UNITA Parliamentary Group, Liberty Chiyaca, urged the GPL to establish an anonymous reporting channel against corrupt practices, as well as the implementation of continuous, mandatory training on hygiene, health, safety at work and professional ethics for morgue employees, as well as monitoring compliance with the use of personal protective equipment.
Despite these recommendations, the Member of the Parliament (MP) confirmed that, recently, the government authorities of Luanda have taken positive steps with the installation of two more cold rooms in the Central Morgue, for the continuous improvement of the service provided by the institution.
He informed that the UNITA Parliamentary Group, under the terms of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly (AN), will request from the Executive a detailed report on the budget funds allocated for the rehabilitation, construction and equipping of morgues in the province of Luanda, since 2020.
He added that they will increase control and inspection activities, as well as carry out new verification visits to all morgues and other health institutions.
As part of the parliamentary inspection action, last month, UNITA MPs visited the Central Morgue of Luanda, adjacent to the Josina Machel Hospital, assigned to the Provincial Government of Luanda.
