Angola and Russia Maintain Fruitful Relations

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Russia maintain a fruitful relationship that is based every year on the sectors of staff training, defence and security, space, among others, the Russian ambassador to the country, Vladimir Tararov, said on Tuesday in Luanda.

In an interview, as part of Russia Day, to be marked on the 12th of this month, he stressed that the cooperation is based on a blood tie, which this year will be 50 years old, as well as the independence of Angola.

Therefore, the diplomat denied information that points to the distance between the two countries.

“We are living in a world with fake news. The truth of the lie. And now the idea reigns that Angola has distanced itself from Russia, because the West has begun to invest more, cooperate more, influence more. But that”s just virtual reality, because the facts say otherwise. Our cooperation develops because the spirit is the most solid in the world,” he stressed.

Space cooperation

To illustrate, Vladimir Tararov recalled that his country worked on the construction and launch into space of the first Angolan satellite (Angosat2), the fruits of which are visible.

He said that thanks to this cooperation, Angola is the first country on the African continent that has its space industry, as it has a scientific team formed during the process of building the satellite.

He mentioned that Russian universities have trained Angolan staff from a theoretical and practical point of view, who have worked on the construction of the satellite and continue with the exploration work.

He said that his country continues to cooperate in the improvement of the Satellite Steering Center, and the parties are now discussing the expansion and improvement of the ground base, which will give more possibilities for exploration.

“It means that we have not only created a space industry, but also a scientific base for specialists who can continue this scientific work to improve the exploitation of the satellite,” he stressed.
