Africa-Press – Angola. The jury of the Sagrada Esperança Literary Prize decided not to select any of the participants from the 2023 edition, due to the lack of coherence and ambiguity of the works presented.
The decision was made public by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in a press release sent this Monday following the assessment of the 23 works in competition.
The ministry claims that there is little relevance to the theme addressed in the works presented, taking into account the nature and size of the competition.
The Sagrada Esperança Literary Prize is a tribute to the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto. Since its institutionalization, 14 prizes have been awarded, of which five in poetry, eight in prose and one in drama.
The prize aims to trigger a new wave of discursive legitimation, promoting the enrichment of the universe, the symbolic and the imaginary of the Portuguese language, through literary discourse.
