According to a press release from the federation, the National Team coach, Franklin Inácio, will address all aspects related to the preparation for the 9th CAN of the sport, to be held for the 3rd consecutive time in the North African region.

On Tuesday (24), the Angolan team begins its preparation in the country’s capital, a period in which there will be no FIFA dates, a fact that may make it difficult to release players who play abroad.

It is known that, after the first part of the training in the capital, Luanda, Angola flies to Portugal.

After a meeting held on Monday (23), at the FAF headquarters, it was known that regarding Franklin Inácio’s continuity as head coach of the national team, the contract remains valid until the end of Angola participation in the continental competition.

The national team qualified for the African Championship by eliminating Cameroon, 12-0, in Yaoundé, and 7-1, in Luanda.

Angola is participating in the competition for the 5th time, after its first appearance in 2008, in Libya, 2016 (South Africa), 2020 and 2024 (Morocco).

The Angolans’ best performance in this type of competition was 2nd place, losing in the final to the host Morocco 1-5, in 2024.
