Africa-Press – Angola. The second day of the third phase of awards for 654 entities, including personalities and groups, who throughout the country’s history have left a remarkable legacy of dedication and service to the country, began on Wednesday in Luanda.

The ceremony began on the first day with the singing of the National Anthem by 30 children from Espaço Aplausos, and was also attended by students from different schools in the first and second cycles of the province of Luanda, for their merit and for being included in the Honor Roll at their educational institutions.There was still time for the guests to be treated to the poem “Caminho do Mato”, written by Agostinho Neto, the first President of the Republic, sung by the Grupo Piô of Rádio Nacional de Angola.University professor Elisa Rangel was the first person to receive the Commemorative Medal for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence from the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in the Peace and Development category.On Thursday, 324 individuals will be honored with the Commemorative Medal for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, in the Peace and Development category, as opposed to the 330 on Wednesday, who were honored in the Independence and Peace and Development categories. The tribute is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, which will be celebrated on 11 November. This is the third group to be distinguished as part of the celebrations. In the first phase, held on 4 April, 247 individuals, including Angolan and foreign citizens, were decorated for their significant contribution to the independence, peace and development of Angola. In the second phase, medals were awarded to 697 honorees. This time, 155 individuals are being distinguished in the “Independence” Class and 499 in the “Peace and Development” Class. Among the names highlighted in the Independence Class are António Brito Domingos Sozinho “Brito Sozinho”, Agostinho Fernandes Nelumba “Sanjar”, the musical group “FAPLA-Povo Alliance”, Dom Anastácio Kahango, Demósthenes de Almeida Clington, Hugo José Azancot de Menezes and Mário Matadidi.In the Peace and Development Class, musical groups such as “As Gingas do Maculusso”, “Banda Maravilha”, “N’Sex Love”, “Os Moyowenos”, “Sassa Tchockwe Internacional” and “SSP” stand out.Also worthy of mention are journalists Manuel da Conceição.
