Africa-Press – Angola. Fifty years later, independent Angola built its refinery. Although many disagree, this feat was achieved thanks to the commitment of the Angolan Executive, led by His Excellency President João Lourenço. One of the investors was attracted or contacted through one of the president’s trips.
What made petroleum derivatives so important?
A: It was the consumption of this product by micro , small , medium and large companies.
An era is a remarkable period in which a new order of things is established, and its use is indispensable. It provides sustainable economic, financial, and social development. Failure to follow an era is fatal to the economic, financial, social, and strategic stability of a given country.
What did the lack of a refinery in Angola that could meet demand cost us?
A: According to Sonangol reports from 2023 , in 2022, the import of refined petroleum products cost the country approximately 1,842,817,185,552 KZ , and in 2023, 2,045,643,946,317 KZ. This means that there was an annual increase in consumption of approximately 20%. In other words, as population density increased, the number of consumers also increased.
Taking into account the annual import sample of 2022 , multiplied by just 10 years, our country would have saved around 18,428,171,855,520 KZ , converting this value at the current exchange rate, it would give 15,410,780,000 USD
Sample: 1,842,817,185,552 KZ X 10 = 18,428,171,855,520 KZ
Certainly, if we had built the refineries earlier, following the gradual increase in population density ( increase in demand ), perhaps these values would be used to build schools , hospitals , roads , improve basic sanitation and even industrialize and develop our country.
In the digital advertising sector , we are already 20 years behind , compared to the countries that have their platforms, in the sponsored campaign services provided in our cyberspace, even though it is a service requested by micro , small , medium and large companies , especially by young people who own a smartphone , tablet and computer , with 12,000,000 consumers of this service in Angola, we still do not have a platform in this area, to meet the request for this service provided and requested in our cyberspace.
What lesson can we learn from the economic and financial losses, which resulted in social losses, caused by the lack of a refinery in our country?
Are we waiting another 50 years to wake up and create our digital platforms?
Taking into account the sample of a freelance professional who spent approximately USD 566.16 on sponsored campaign services in 12 months, this value times 1,100,000 , which corresponds to less than 10% of the number of internet consumers in Angola, would be:
566.16 USD X 1,100,000 = 622,776,000 USD
Are we not once again wasting financial and economic resources, especially in foreign currency, which should be used to serve Angola and Angolans?
An era is a remarkable time in which a new order of things is established, in which its use is indispensable. It provides sustainable economic, financial, and social development. Failure to keep up with an era is fatal to the economic, financial, social, and strategic stability of a given country. We are already 20 years behind other countries that have their own digital platforms.
