Africa-Press – Angola. The II African Climate Summit (ACS2) kicked off on Monday (08) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with Angola represented by a delegation led by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
Being held under the motto “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” the meeting, which runs until Wednesday (10), brings together more than 45 African Heads of State and Government.
Also attending the event are officials of the African Union, as well as ministers, diplomats, international partners, and representatives of civil society and the private sector, in a forum that aims to affirm Africa as a central player in the global climate agenda.
At the opening, Ethiopia’s minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Assefa, who welcomed the delegates, emphasized that the summit’s objective is to transform ambition into concrete actions and mobilize large-scale financing for resilient and sustainable projects.
Over three days, participants will discuss topics linked to nature-based solutions, energy transition, technological innovation, adaptation, resilience, climate finance, and green infrastructure.
At the end, the Addis Ababa Declaration and a Call to Action are to be approved, aiming to strengthen the continent’s unified voice in international negotiations.
