Africa-Press – Angola. The African Union commissioners for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals, (ETTIM), as well as the commissioners for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI), took office on Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Francisca Tatchoup Belobe of Equatorial Guinea and Gaspard Banyankimbona of Burundi complete the list of commissioners that make up the new Board of the African Union Commission. They were elected during the 47th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, held on July 10 to 11 of this year in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The aforementioned ceremony took place at the African Union Headquarters in the capital of Ethiopia and was presided over by Angolan Foreign minister, Téte António, in his capacity as acting chairperson of the AU Executive Council, and Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, chairperson of the AU Commission.
The African Union Commission is composed of eight commissioners, each responsible for strategic areas, and acts as the executive body of the African Union.
The event took place on the sidelines of the 2nd Africa-CARICOM Summit, held under the theme: “Transcontinental Partnership in Pursuit of Reparatory Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations”.
