Abu Dhabi: the city of modernity

Africa-Press – Angola. Abu Dhabi is a modern city that captures the attention of any visitor, mainly due to its modernity.

This location, which will host the Sustainability Week from the 14th to the 19th of this month, has wide avenues and many green spaces.

The pulse of the city is particularly contagious for first-time visitors.

At a first glance at the city, with around one and a half million inhabitants, attention is drawn to the careful distribution of the spaces in which the infrastructures are built.

Of the various infrastructures, very modern, several skyscrapers stand out, including the Capital Gate tower, 165 meters high and 35 floors.

The Capital Gate tower attracts the eyes of passersby, as it looks like it is going to fall, all because of its natural inclination, which is reminiscent of the famous tower of Pisa (Italy).

These days, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is centering international attention for hosting the 2023 Sustainability Week.

This is an annual event, organized by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, to promote sustainable development and contribute to global cooling.

To attend the global meeting, the Angolan President, João Lourenço, will arrive in Abu Dhabi in the next few hours.

Returning to the references of the city, with 67,340 square kilometers, Abu Dhabi is one of the hottest regions in the UAE, with a daily average of 35 degrees centigrade.

Contrary to what one would expect, in the last few days the temperature fluctuates between 17 and 24 degrees. It is expected to stay that way for the next ten days.

The city was designed in 1967, by the Japanese architect Katsuhiko Takahashi, for 60 thousand inhabitants, a number that in 1975 had already doubled.

Among the tourist attractions, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the main one in Abu Dhabi.

The region also has excellent conditions for excursions to the Liwa desert and the city of Al Ain.

Before the construction of the modern city, located by the sea, the Abu Dhabi region was a small fishing village until the existence of oil was discovered in the locality.

Crude oil revenues have turned Abu Dhabi into a modern city and a bustling center of government and business.

However, Abu Dhabi is only part of the UAE.
