Africa-Press – Angola. The National Football Team travelled on Sunday (07) night to Algarve, (Portugal) for a training program as part of the African Cup of Nation, taking place from the current Dec 21st until Jan 18th of 2026, in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The national team departed from the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, with a reduced group, including players who play in the National Championship of the first division (Girabola), namely goalkeepers Neblú (1o de Agosto), Hugo Marques, and right-back Eddie Afonso (both from Petro de Luanda).
The players called up who play professionally abroad will begin to join the Angolan delegation from Monday (8).
In Portugal, the Angolans will complete a 10-day training program, with confirmed matches against the national teams of Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The team heads to the competition venue on the 18th, in a tournament where they are in Group B and will debut against South Africa (on the 22nd), at the Marrakech stadium, at 6 pm.
In the 2nd round, they will face Zimbabwe at 1:30 pm on the 26th, again at the Marrakech stadium, and will close the group stage against Egypt (29th), at the Adrar stadium, in Agadir, at 5 pm.
Angola is participating for the 10th time in the AFCON competettion, after the Editions in South Africa (1996 and 2013), Burkina Faso (1998), Egypt (2006 and 2019), Ghana (2008), 2010 (as host), Gabon and Equatorial Guinea (2012) and Côte d’Ivoire (2023-24).
