Africa-Press – Angola. The first President of the Republic, Agostinho Neto, was honored, Monday, by the City Council of the city of Praia, Cape Verde, with the attribution of his name to one of the busiest avenues in that country.
The homage was made within the framework of the celebrations of Neto’s centenary, marked last September of this year, in representation of the partnership between the two countries.
For the Mayor of the city of Praia, Francisco de Carvalho, this gesture will not only reinforce cooperation and good relations between Angola and Cape Verde, as well as the preservation of the name and memory of the former President of the Republic , which he considers to be a figure that transcends Angola and the continent.
“We are talking about a figure that goes beyond the limits of Angola, goes beyond the limits of the African continent, reaches Cape Verde, reaches the world”, he stressed.
