Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and China continue to maintain an “excellent” bilateral relationship in several areas, especially economic and social, said, this Sunday, in Shanghai, the Angolan ambassador to this country, Dalva Ringote.

According to the diplomat, who was speaking to the press, on the eve of the 8th Taihu International Culture Conference, cooperation between the two countries was elevated to the level of strategic partnership, after the meeting between President João Lourenço and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

She highlighted that Angola and China have been working together to strengthen ties of cooperation and friendship, and the deepening of relations has materialized through projects developed by the various ministerial departments.

The ambassador recalled that China is a fundamental partner, especially due to its vast cultural and civilizational heritage, with more than five thousand years of history.

She said that this context represents an opportunity for cultural promotion, integrating dimensions such as environment and tourism.

She added that the articulation between culture and tourism opens up space for “a strategic marriage” capable of generating positive economic impacts for both countries.

The Ambassador highlighted that China has shown commitment in the cultural field, with the Taihu Forum being a practical expression of the promotion of civilizations, peoples and cultural cooperation, with the expectation of more visible results.

Regarding the Angolan community in China, Dalva Ringote said that it is relatively small, mostly made up of higher education, master’s and doctoral students, spread across several Chinese provinces.

The Angolan embassy, through consulates, has provided regular support to students, especially in issuing documents such as identity cards, passports and document recognition, she said.

According to the ambassador, the official number is around 300 students, although it is not definitive, having highlighted that the joint work between the diplomatic mission in Beijing and the Consulates General in Guangzhou and Macau will make it possible to obtain more accurate data on the Angolan student diaspora.

Regarding possible difficulties faced by students, she clarified that these were not administrative problems, but rather challenges related to the vast geographical dimension of China, which “operates under the principle of one country, two systems, integrating special administrative regions such as Macau and Hong Kong, where Angolans reside.
