Ambassador considers active cooperation between Angola and Morocco

Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of Morocco to Angola, Saadia El Alaoui, said Monday in Luanda that the two countries have an active and well-targeted partnership, capable of contributing to an environment of stability and socio-economic development.

The diplomat, who was speaking on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the accession to power of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, celebrated on the 30th of July, advanced that the two countries must make the most of the opportunities available to, increasingly, provide a level of better life for populations and envision new goals.

“Today, more than ever, the African continent needs countries that are guided by proactive visions, with the reduction of divisions, for well-being and the construction of a dignified future for all”, said the diplomat.

This vision, continued Saadi Eil Alaoui, forms the basis of the convictions of the Kingdom of Morocco, which derives from royal guidelines and the long history of interaction that characterizes relations with other African countries and peoples.

Without advancing the volume of business between the two countries, Saadi Eil Alaoui referred that the good environment of relations between Angola and Morocco is an opportunity to be explored by the authorities.

However, he added, this intention should serve as an incentive for Moroccan businessmen to invest in Angola, in the most varied sectors.

“On an economic level, Morocco’s involvement model is centered on a constant improvement of the business environment, the creation of competitive poles, the construction of large infrastructures and industrial and logistical zones, dedicated to the automotive and renewable energy sectors” , highlighting in particular the Vere Investment Program and the Morocco Offer for Green Hydrogen.

Regarding the meaning of the 24th anniversary of the accession to the throne of King Mohammed VI, the diplomat said that the date represents the consecration of the renewal of the pact of loyalty and the strengthening of the deep and centuries-old bond between the Moroccan people and their sovereigns.

“King Mohammed VI reformed and modernized Morocco’s policy, implementing greater dynamics and political, economic and social openness, enshrined in respect for the human person, peace and tolerance, which allows for the serene progression of Morocco”, he underlined.

Relations between Angola and Morocco date back to the 1960s. In the scope of cooperation, the two countries signed, in October 1988, the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which allowed the holding of the first Session of the Joint Bilateral Commission, in the city of Rabat, in October 1989.

Angola and Morocco cooperate in areas such as education, agriculture, trade, among others.
