Africa-Press – Angola. The non-resident ambassador of Angola in Malta, Maria de Fátima Jardim, addressed the possibility of intensifying the cooperation of the International Maritime Institute with different Angolan institutions that, directly or transversally, deal with legal issues or issues inherent to the maritime space .

The diplomat who is in Malta for New Year’s greetings to the Maltese Head of State, Jorge Vella, visited the International Maritime Institute, where she was received by its director, Norman Gutierrez, and by academics from different countries for training at this institution.

According to a communiqué from the Embassy of Angola in Italy, at the end of the meeting, a framework of activities was defined aimed at consolidating a memorandum with the institute that could allow, among others, the raising of funding for Angolan scholarship holders and a possible exchange of information between institutions in the higher education and research sector in both countries.

During the meeting, the need to prepare and encourage visits was also addressed, within the framework of deepening relations between the two countries.

The International Institute of Law of the Sea has existed for 34 years and, since its creation, it is the only institution in the world dedicated to training in the Law of the Sea from an international point of view.

In Malta, Fátima Jardim and other accredited ambassadors presented new year greetings to Prime Minister Robert Abela and participated in a Dinner, hosted by the Maltese Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ian Borg.

The diplomat also held meetings with the Maltese Minister of Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima, and with the director of External Relations and Mediterranean Affairs, Claude Bonello, with whom she discussed issues of bilateral interest.
