Africa-Press – Angola. The Ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato, considered, on Friday, in Dubai, the continuous technical-professional training of diplomatic agents as an antidote to boosting economic cooperation relations in accreditation countries.
The diplomat, who was speaking during the closing of the Regional Professional and Continuing Training Seminar aimed at consular agents and employees of diplomatic missions in the Middle East, Asia and some African countries, also highlighted that everything focuses on mobilization and increasing the attraction of investments, the establishment of strategic partnerships between intergovernmental institutions and companies.
He highlighted the recent launch by the Institute of Administrative Modernization (IMA) of the Integrated Consular Management System (SIGGEC), which aims to guarantee the security of information produced by Diplomatic and Consular Missions (MDC), in order to standardize procedures, as well as uniformity of MDC institutional portals, in addition to ensuring greater dynamism in the provision of public services for all Angolan citizens abroad.
On the other hand, the diplomat reported that the number of citizens residing in Dubai and other Emirates is around 200 Angolans. This number could soon increase due to the business opportunities that this Persian Gulf country offers.
He highlighted that, in the last two years, there has been a strengthening of political-diplomatic relations between the two countries with a large increase in official visits.
The most recent proof of good relations between the two States was the “Excellence” award given to the Embassy by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, within the scope of the Government Excellence Program in recognition of the Mission’s efforts and “this makes us very proud and encourages the improvement and strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries”.
The Republic of Angola and the UAE enjoy active economic cooperation, for example, in June 2020 it reached 1.6 million dollars in exports and imports, with the UAE being the destination for 90% of the gross production of Angolan diamonds .
The two countries cooperate equally in the sectors of Oil and Gas, Mines, Trade and Investment, Energy, Defense, Transport, Agriculture, Fisheries, Health, Banking, Telecommunications and Finance.
Recommendations
The 1st Regional Professional and Continuing Training Seminar recommended the holding of other training cycles in the consular area and greater dissemination of consular and related legislation, in addition to the promotion of activities aimed at permanent rapprochement with the resident Angolan community.

The 60 participants, made up mainly of consular agents and employees of diplomatic missions in the Middle East, Asia and Africa region, recommended greater technical training in the preparation of documents related to acts of civil registration, such as registers and transcription of seats, as well as notarial acts.
Consular agents and employees must master the forms of acquisition, loss and reacquisition of Angolan nationality, provided for in the nationality law and other related legislation.
Participating in the closing session were the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, and the Consul General of Angola in Dubai, Bento Salazar André, organizer of the event, vice-consuls, consular agents and civil servants. MDC.
