Africa-Press – Angola. The mayor Anabela Ngambo Kaumba, 80 years old, was, this Sunday, nominated to temporarily take over the Luvale Kingdom, in a ceremony held in the village of Cazombo, municipality of Alto Zambeze, Moxico province.
The appointment was made by the Council of the Royal Court of the Luvale Kingdom, to replace Queen Nhakatolo, who died more than a week ago, a victim of illness, in Luanda.
The presentation ceremony of the official to the traditional authorities and members of the Municipal Administration was presided over by the representative of Emperor Mwatiânvua, King Mwana Kaji Yaav.
Speaking to the press, the interim queen promised to continue the actions carried out by Nhakatolo Tchilombo, namely, the protection of the habits and customs of the local culture, unification of the kingdom and expansion of cooperation with other tribes in the country, as well as in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
Prior to her appointment, Anabela Ngambo Kaumba, a native of the commune of Cavungo, Nana Candundo, was the mayor of the commune of Lumbala-Kaquengue.
Enthronement of new queen within a year
According to the spokesperson for the Luvale Kingdom, Furtuoso Samuconga “Regedor Jamba”, a successor to queen Nhakatolo Tchilombo has already been identified, who will be announced within a period of six months to a year, in accordance with traditional norms and criteria.
He said that deep knowledge of the culture, the language of the region, the habits and customs of the Luvale ethnic group and an acceptable academic level are some of the criteria required of the queen.
In turn, the representative of the Ruund Empire (Lunda), King Mwana Kaj Yaav, recommended wisdom and insight to the future sovereign, to maintain the unity of the Luvale tribe.
Queen Nhakatolo Tchilombo was the fifth sovereign of the Luvale Kingdom, after Nhakatolo Cavangu, Nhakatolo Ngambo, Nhakatolo Kutemba and Nhakatolo Chisengo.
The Luvale kingdom in Angola is represented in the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, and abroad in DRC and Zambia.
