Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Djibouti acknowledged the need to reinforce bilateral cooperation, during a meeting held in Addis-Ababa between the diplomatic representatives of the two countries in Ethiopia.
In a note, the Embassy of Angola in Ethiopia refers that during the meeting Miguel Domingos Bembe and Abdi Mahamoud Eybe agreed that the intensification of cooperation should take into account the potential and opportunities offered by both countries.
Among the priority areas, the interlocutors pointed to the political-diplomatic, defense and security, trade, industry and logistics, agriculture and agribusiness, transport and infrastructure and energy sectors.
With regard to the political-diplomatic sector, they considered it pertinent to conclude the negotiating process for the General Cooperation Agreement in the Economic, Technical, Scientific and Cultural Domains.
Likewise, they envisaged the negotiation and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of Political Consultations and the Agreement on the Exemption of Visas in Diplomatic and Service Passports.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Miguel Bembe expressed the Angolan side’s interest in carrying out work visits to learn about the developments in Djibouti.
Miguel Bembe was recently designated as Angola’s ambassador, with non-resident status in Djibouti.
On Friday, Ambassador Miguel Bembe participated in the information session on the implementation of the “Pretoria Peace Agreement and the Transitional Justice Policy Process”.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, and was attended by the Minister of Justice, Gedion Timothewos.
At the event, especially dedicated to the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Addis Ababa, the two Ethiopian leaders pointed out the degree of evolution and implementation of the referred agreement.
This is a Diploma signed by the Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), with the mediation of the AU, on November 2 (2) 2022, in Pretoria, South Africa.
