Africa-Press – Angola. The announcement was made to the Angolan press, in Beijing, by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to China, João dos Santos Neto.
As part of this mechanism, the Angolan diplomat said that there is a prospect of signing memorandums in the field of agriculture, fisheries and an agreement on the reciprocal protection of investments, with the Chinese delegation.
In a cooperation focused on several sectors, with “excellent and historic” relations between the two countries, Angola intends to adjust the trade balance, diversifying exports to the Asian giant, in addition to “traditional” oil.
With China currently exporting manufactured products to Angola, Ambassador João dos Santos Neto hopes that the next meeting of the steering committee will be able to increase cooperation areas that attract more Chinese businessmen to the country.
Huawei trains 2000 Angolans/year
The technology center of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., a Chinese multinational company of equipment for networks and telecommunications, has annually trained two thousand young Angolan staff.
The aforementioned staff, according to the Angolan ambassador, will be able to ensure the science and technology sector in the country, with emphasis on technological centres, such as the one under construction in Huambo province.
Also within the scope of training Angolan staff, the Angolan embassy in China controls 300 scholarship holders undergoing training in the field of engineering and beyond.
The ambassador recalled that in 2018 the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, made available a three-year program of 500 scholarships.
The aforementioned programme, which reserves a quota for doctorates for professors at Angolan universities, registered some slowdown with Covid-19, but which has already resumed and is running.
