Africa-Press – Angola. With a total of 10 swimmers, the National Team is participating in its fifth participation in the Junior World Swimming Championship, to be held from the 4th to the 9th of September, in Netanya (Israel).

This is the edition in which the Angolan team participates with the largest number of swimmers, 10, after presences in the United Arab Emirates (2013), with nine, Singapore (2015), with two, Budapest, Hungary (2019) , with two and, in Lima, Peru (2022), with four.

The National Team will compete in the competition with N’hara Fernandes, Nyriam Morais and Yusseni Furtado, who participate for the second time, after 2022 in Peru, and the debutants Carlota Silva, Jasmine Lourenço, Stephanie Jurado, Enzo Anjos, José Cochofel, David Padre and Janel Tati.

The 10 swimmers are on the list of the fastest young athletes in the country. In addition to being among 10 in the National Ranking, with FINA points, N’hara stands out as the new absolute national record holder in the 50m freestyle, with a time of 27.59.

Carlota made her debut this year in the national absolute, with three gold medals in the 50m freestyle (28.50), 100m (1:08.67) and 50m (30.63) butterfly.

Jasmine is absolute national champion in the 100m freestyle (1:05.08) and 200m freestyle (2:28.43). Stephanie still holds the beginner’s record (11-12 years old) for the 50m butterfly (31.55), broken in 2021, in South Africa, with Nyriam being the MVP of the Zone IV African Championship.

Janel, among several performances, is a bronze medalist in the 50 freestyle (25.11), José is a silver medalist in the 200 freestyle (2:27.82), Enzo is absolute national runner-up in the 100m freestyle (56.73).

David also stands out, as holder of the silver medal in the absolute national championship, in the 200 and 400m freestyle (2:14.34 and 4:37.47), while the experienced Yusseni is the champion of the 100m freestyle (56.39) and 50 and 100m backstroke ( 29.98 and 1:04.83).

During the preparation between South Africa, Portugal and the United States, the swimmers were subjected to improving their physical condition in the gym and simulated tests in their styles.

The group went to the competition stage on Friday they should start adaptation training at Netanya’s pool.
