Angola condemns anti-democratic acts carried out in Brazil

Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, and President of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), expressed, this Sunday, the most vigorous and firm condemnation of the anti-democratic acts that are being practiced in Brazil, throughout the day against institutions that represent and symbolize Brazilian democracy.

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, reacted to the events in the federal capital of Brazil with the following statement:

“As President “pro tempore” of the CPLP and as President of the Republic of Angola, I express the most vigorous and firm condemnation of the anti-democratic acts that are being practiced in Brazil, against institutions that represent and symbolize Brazilian Democracy.

We consider these manifestations regrettable and revealing a high degree of intolerance, not compatible with the rules of the democratic game, in which the results legitimized by the popular vote must be recognized and accepted by all.

The elections recently held in Brazil were recognized worldwide as free, fair and transparent, thus making no sense to the current claims.

I express my conviction that the Brazilian Government, with which we stand in solidarity, will exercise its authority and restore democratic order in the country without delay”.
