Africa-Press – Angola. The senior men’s basketball team lost, this Friday, to a similar team from Mexico, by 76-78, in the opening round of the international tournament “Taça do Rei XI”, which will run until the 7th in Jordan.
The competition, involving four teams, precedes the participation of the African Champions in the World Cup, from August 25th to September 10th, in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan.
Angola trailed at half-time by one point (47-48), in a match played at the Prince Hamzi Hall sports complex, in the capital Amman (Jordan).
The Angolan center Bruno Fernando was the best scorer in the match, with 17 points, followed by his compatriot, base Nilton Valente, with 12pts.
As for the Mexicans, Orlando Mendez stood out, with 17 points, five more than his colleague, Johua Ibarra (12).

On Saturday (the 5th), the Hendeca champions will play the hosts (Jordan) at 6 pm and on Monday (the 7th) they will face Portugal.
