Africa-Press – Angola. Bengo provincial governor Antónia Nelumba announced on Tuesday that Angola plans to start exporting bananas to Nigeria in 2026.
The governor, who was speaking at the 5th meeting of the Angola-Nigeria Bilateral Joint Commission in Luanda, said the exports will come from Bengo, one of the country’s largest banana-producing regions.
Nelumba stressed that Angola intends to increase cooperation with Nasarawa State in Nigeria.
The 5th Meeting of the Angola-Nigeria Bilateral Joint Commission is reviewing agreements and memoranda of cooperation between the two countries to address major economic challenges.
More than 20 agreements and memoranda will be reviewed to determine which need updating, and new legal instruments will be added to guide future political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries in the areas of defense and security, cyber and digital diplomacy, the economy and trade, justice, culture, air and maritime transport, telecommunications and media, and tourism.
The delegations are headed by Domingos Vieira Lopes, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation of MIREX, and Bianca Odumgwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
