Africa-Press – Angola. The historic relations between Angola and Portugal are marked by deep, multifaceted, and comprehensive cooperation, with ongoing contacts at all levels and in different areas, illustrating the strength of the exchange between the two countries, said president João Lourenço on Tuesday in Luanda.

In a message sent to his Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on June 10, Portugal Day, Camões Day, and Portuguese Communities Day, the Angolan Head of State greeted the Portuguese people on this celebration.

The statesman added that there is still great potential for growth in bilateral cooperation and, in this regard, believes that addressing all aspects inherent to it will contribute to the implementation of initiatives in all fields.

For João Lourenço, the two states tend to develop actions that aim to contribute to the progress, development, and well-being of our respective peoples.

“On behalf of the Angolan Executive and on my own behalf, I have the honor of congratulating the Portuguese people and government and Your Excellency on the celebration of Portugal Day, Camões Day, and Portuguese Communities Day,” wrote the president.

Portugal Day, Camões Day, and Portuguese Communities Day are celebrated annually on June 10, the date of the death of the poet Luís de Camões.

This day pays tribute to Portugal, the Portuguese people, Lusophone culture, and the Portuguese presence throughout the world.
