Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, this Monday, the cooperation of the Portuguese School of Tourism and Hospitality of Vila Real in the training of Angolan technicians.

The diplomat was speaking at the ceremony granting certificates to 15 Angolans, of the 63 sent to Portugal, at different stages, by the Angola Tourism Training Institute (Infotur), under an agreement with the Portuguese Tourism Institute.

He considered the training of national citizens as a fundamental instrument for their empowerment, in order to better serve “what is considered the “peace industry”.

According to the ambassador, Angola has been developing a process of diversifying its economy, with strong investments in different sources of revenue capture.

“Very recently, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, referred to tourism as one of the key sectors for raising revenue, creating new jobs and promoting our country in international markets”, he highlighted.

He said that, in terms of tourism, several projects are underway to create new infrastructures and improve those that already exist, with the aim of modernizing them and making them more competitive.

In order for these objectives to be achieved, Maria de Jesus Ferreira considered that human capital capable of responding to the challenges posed is necessary, so that Angolan tourism fulfills its strategic role in the country’s growth and in the dissemination of its riches, cultures and human warmth.

The ceremony was attended by the general director of Infotur, Afonso Vita, the consul general of Angola in Lisbon, Vicência de Brito, members of the Angolan diplomatic corps accredited in Portugal and Portuguese authorities linked to the tourism sector.

During the awarding of diplomas, there were cultural moments, with emphasis on a tribute to the Angolan nationalist, musician, ruler and diplomat Rui Mingas, who recently passed away, as well as the showing of videos promoting Angolan tourism.
