Africa-Press – Angola. Angola was reelected vice-president of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) for southern Africa region during the organization’s 59th General Assembly on Saturday in Cairo, Egypt, at its 21st Congress.

According to a press release on Monday by the Angolan Embassy in Egypt, Angola’s reelection for the 2025–2028 term reaffirms the country’s commitment to strengthening energy security and cooperation on the continent, valuing human capital, and representing the Portuguese-speaking community within the organization.

During the previous term (2022–2025), Angola—represented by PRODEL—distinguished itself by promoting regional integration with a focus on including Portuguese-speaking countries.

One of the main milestones of the last term was the inclusion of Portuguese as an official APUA language.

Other initiatives were developed, including mobilizing and subsequently enrolling other companies from Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) countries in APUA, such as EDM (Mozambique), SEGESA (Equatorial Guinea), ELECTRA S.A. (Cape Verde), EAGB (Guinea-Bissau), and EMAE (São Tomé and Príncipe).

The Angolan delegation to the forum, which ends on October 2, includes directors from the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE), the National Transport Network (RNT), and the Public Electricity Production Company (PRODEL), as well as Angolan auditors responsible for the ASEA.

The APUA Congress will bring together government leaders, experts, and policymakers from across the continent to discuss the sector’s structural challenges, foster investment, and accelerate the energy transition in Africa.
