Africa-Press – Angola. An Angolan delegation, led by the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, has been in Cape Verde since 9 March for a working visit, as part of the strengthening of cultural cooperation between the two countries.
According to the official social media page of the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries of Cape Verde, the visit, which ends on 13 March, included a work agenda marked by a reception by the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, as well as a visit to Cidade Velha, the birthplace of the Cape Verdean nation and a World Heritage Site, a historical and cultural landmark.
On the occasion, Minister Filipe Zau learned about the history of the place, accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries of Cape Verde, Augusto Veiga.
During the work, Filipe Zau also visited three public institutions under the Ministry of Culture, namely the National Archives Institute, the National Library Institute and the Cesária Évora Academy of Arts of Cape Verde.
During his stay, the Angolan leader will also visit the Ildo Lobo Palace of Culture, Olaria de Fonte Lima, Tarrafal de Santiago, a former concentration camp, schools benefiting from the Bolsa de Acesso à Cultura program, the Sema Lopi Cultural Center in Santa Cruz, the Katchas Cultural Center, and the Casa de Arte in São Miguel.
Before the end of the visit, the Minister of Culture will be received in a courtesy audience by the President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves.The visit is part of the strengthening of the cooperation agreement in the areas of Education and Culture, signed between the two countries in November 2002, as well as the joint declaration between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries of Cape Verde, signed in July 2018.
These cooperation instruments have been fundamental for cultural and educational exchange between the two countries, promoting joint actions and strengthening historical ties between Angola and Cape Verde.
