Africa-Press – Angola. The reinforcement of technical cooperation and participation in African peace missions and natural disasters dominated this Thursday, in Abuja, the meeting between the commander of the National Air Force (FAN), Virgínio da Cunha Pinto, and his counterpart from Nigeria , HB Abubakar.

According to a press release, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 3rd African Air Force Forum, commemorating 60 years of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) which celebrates aerospace innovations and regional security at the Abuja International Convention Centre.

On the occasion, the interlocutors addressed the commitment to share the vast experience, knowledge and resources of the two countries in African Union (AU) peacekeeping missions and in support of natural disasters.

The partnership between the two institutions reflects the update of the Memorandum to Strengthen Cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense and security, reached between the Ministers of Defense of Angola and Nigeria, respectively João Ernesto dos Santos and Mohamed Badaru Abubakar, at sidelines of the Conference on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Change held recently in Abuja.

The 3rd African Air Force Forum is also a great opportunity for commanders in this branch to interact with manufacturers of aircraft, helicopters, drones and with suppliers of state-of-the-art equipment and air defense, communications, navigation, training and simulation systems.

Angolan participation made it possible to explore strategic partnerships and innovative solutions on the future of the aerospace industry and the experience of African security.

This Saturday, General Virgínio da Cunha Pinto will attend, at Kaduna Air Base, a military aviation festival, which marks the highest point in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force.
