Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty children between the ages of 12 and 15, involved in vandalism and looting during the taxi drivers’ strike in Luanda, were returned to their families on Friday by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).
According to SIC spokesperson Manuel Halaiwa, after being interviewed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and being interviewed by the juvenile court, the minors, including three girls, were formally released to their parents, guardians, or legal guardians in the municipality of Cacuaco, as the responsibility for the education and protection of minors lies with the family.
He said the process aims to reintegrate these minors into their families, so they can continue their lives and education, emphasizing that the SIC emphasizes the importance of family in shaping values and supporting children.
Speaking to the press, he added that the work of returning minors continues in other municipalities, with a total of 83 expected to be returned to their families by this Saturday.
He explained that the damage caused by the vandalism is being assessed at a general level, and authorities are discussing ways to support the affected businesses.
The spokesperson said that the SIC director spoke with family members and guardians and urged them to show greater care and attention to their children to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
He added that some parents and guardians disapproved of their children’s or students’ behavior, promising to reinforce the educational process to ensure that similar situations do not happen again.
Investigations to hold the adults involved in the crimes accountable continue, according to Manuel Halaiwa.
