Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan coaches Filipe Cruz (1.o de Agosto) and Willian de Almeida (Interclube) have been participating since Monday, in the city of Cairo, Egypt, in a multiplier skills training course for trainers of the International Handball Federation (IHF), in a promotion of its African affiliate (CAHB).
Taking place until the 2nd of October, at the Handball Academy in Cairo, the event aims to train trainers for the IHF D and C licenses, which qualifies them to become CAHB lecturers, and has the participation, in addition to Angola, of professionals from Libya, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda, Gabao and Tunisia.
The training action reserves theoretical sessions, during which trainees will look at the updated structure of the IHF Coaching Education Regulations, the profile and general objectives of IHF Multiplier Education on the continents, and the experience in training coaches in Africa .
The approach will also include new solutions and ideas for the education of the future, development projects and tools for coaches in Africa, aspects to be taught in six specific topics, namely, demonstration, explanation, organization, correction, motivation and evaluation.
They will also address the importance of different age groups in children’s and youth handball, and “How to teach D- and C-License courses, connection with the situation in Africa. In a theoretical session, trainees will learn handball teaching methodologies – Child and Youth Training – long-term concept.
The approach to the special profile for children’s handball coaches, multiplier observation criteria, observation to evaluate the coaches’ behavior during practice and training sessions, are also planned.
Practical classes with U9 and U11 (girls and boys), organization in groups with 4 coaches, D-/C-Licence-Content Theory, defense of the main topic, and latest trends in top youth handball – detail analysis (video).
The theme of “defence” in Africa – observations, deficits, tactical aspects and
methodological consequences for youth training (basic and advanced), and coach education are scheduled.
The methodological steps to develop individual defense strategies (man-to-man defense) in specific handball games (adapted rules, methodical way, learning in small games) will also be analyzed and discussed.
The Spanish experience of the importance and specific role of defense in handball and its philosophy will also be taken into analysis and discussion, as well as the tactical and methodological consequences for the training of young people – Management of the general education process by the multiplier.
“How to learn and teach basic notions of individual defense (footwork, position, tactics and body contact technique), introduction of counter-attack defense training in youth training (methodical form, basic cooperation), and “How to learn and teach active defense – Introduction of counter-attack defense training in youth training”, will be taught by former Spanish handball player Jorge Duenas.
Jorge Duenas will also give a presentation on “Training session progression – quick pause combined with quick retreat”, and position-specific training for wingers, pivots and defensive players.
