Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Embassy in Indonesia was opened this Wednesday in Jakarta by the Secretary of State for Administration, Finance and Heritage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Osvaldo Varela. The ceremony of the aforementioned Diplomatic Mission in that Asian country is part of the work agenda that the Secretary of State is carrying out in that region.

According to a note sent to JA Online, on the sidelines of that event, Osvaldo Varela met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Arrmanatha Nacir, with whom he discussed the state of bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the political and economic domains.

The entities also reviewed the legal instruments under negotiation, expressing mutual interest in moving forward with their finalization and signing.The prospects for expanding cooperation were also discussed, with an emphasis on the oil, agricultural and mining sectors, where relations already exist, as well as the establishment of a Joint Commission as a platform for monitoring and deepening bilateral relations.

The Secretary of State took the opportunity to share the main points of Angola’s Presidency of the African Union for the period 2025-2026, and to address the potential for more visible cooperation between Angola and ASEAN countries, against the backdrop of the agenda for regional integration and effective multilateralism.

The joint reflection on the reform of the United Nations and other issues on the international agenda also received attention.
