Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, discussed, this Friday, in Havana, Cuba, aspects linked to cooperation with his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.
The two statesmen are in the Cuban capital to participate in the summit of heads of State and Government of the Group of 77+China, which debates, until Saturday, the theme “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation”, in the countries of organization.
During the meeting, the two statesmen also discussed issues related to the situation in the Central and Southern regions of Africa and the international political situation.
Also this Friday, with the same purpose, within the framework of existing relations between Angola and Venezuela, João Lourenço spoke with his counterpart from this South American country, Nicolas Maduro.
Angola/Rwanda Cooperation
The legal basis for bilateral cooperation between Angola and Rwanda was established on May 15, 2014, with the signing of the Framework Agreement for Economic, Technical-Scientific and Cultural Cooperation and the Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission.
On May 30 of this year, the two countries signed nine legal instruments, including agreements to avoid double taxation, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, transfer of convicted persons, memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Livestock development.
Also noteworthy are the memorandums of understanding on Local Administration, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Cooperation in the field of Health, as well as the memorandum of understanding on the National School of Administration and Public Policies and the Rwanda Institute of Management.
Angola/Venezuela Cooperation
Angola and Venezuela have been working to expand existing partnerships, raise resources to improve economic and social projects, as well as maintain a good level of friendly and solidarity relations.
Since 2005, Venezuela has maintained full diplomatic relations with the African continent, where Angola is considered one of the most important partners.
Relations between the two countries were boosted by the visit of the then President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, to Angola, in August 2006.
