Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Angolan Volleyball Federation (FAVB), Mário Joaquim, highlighted the technical and physical quality of the athletes participating in the tournament, which ended on Sunday on Luanda Island, as part of the African Youth Games.
Speaking to the press in the Angolan capital, he underlined the qualities and capacity demonstrated by the finalist teams of this edition of the beach volleyball tournament, namely the host country Angola and as well as Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria and Egypt.
He said he was surprised by the performance and the result of the training work developed by the coaches of the aforementioned teams.
Regarding the national team, he stated that the objective is to continue working towards preparation for the next activities.
For this event which ends on the 20th of this month, competitions related to different sports have been taking place since last Wednesday (10).
The 4th edition of the African Youth Games for athletes up to 17 years old encompasses 21 sports and takes place under the motto “Youth in motion, Africa united”, simultaneously in the provinces of Luanda and Bengo.
The event brings together 2,025 athletes and more than 600 technical officials, including coaches, heads of delegation, masseurs and timekeepers.
