Africa-Press – Angola. At least 70 agricultural producers from the province of Huíla are participating, starting on Tuesday (16), in Lubango City, at the 15th Edition of the Christmas Fair and the 8th Edition of the Potato Fair.
The commercial event, happening under the umbrella of the Huíla Agro-Livestock, Commercial and Industrial Association (AAPCIL), taking place under the motto “With the Christmas spirit from the field to the family table”, arises from the need to bring producers closer to consumers, promoting direct sales to help prevent inflation.
Speaking about the event, the AAPCIL Chair, Paulo Gaspar, stated that one of the objectives is to promote the region’s national production, which is potatoes, and to allow small farmers, micro-entrepreneurs and producers to sell directly to the final consumer, eliminating intermediaries and guaranteeing more affordable prices for the population.
He emphasized that the event will also include the participation of women selling Christmas gifts. The exhibitors come from 12 municipalities of the province, with a greater concentration from Lubango.
He announced that the participating companies are mostly small entrepreneurs, including producers of traditional sausages such as chorizo, paio, and ham, already recognized nationally.
He also announced that 12 restaurants will be operating in a food court prepared for the purpose, where the organization expects between 10,000 and 12,000 visitors over the six days of the event, which hopes to create 700 temporary jobs.
The fair began 14 years ago, initially dedicated only to the exhibition and sale of agricultural products and local sausages, having evolved over time to also include handicrafts, homemade gifts, and works by visual artists from the province.
