Africa-Press – Angola. The chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), Paulino Jerónimo, confirmed, this Tuesday, the purchase of the 25-storey building in which the headquarters of Banco Económico (BE) still operates. .
According to Paulino Jerónimo, the agreement has already been signed between Banco Económico and the National Concessionaire-ANPG, and is in the formalities stage for payments worth USD 100 million.
Inaugurated in 2012, the building located in the center of the capital, Rua 1o Congresso, is 111 meters above the ground, that is, 25 floors above ground and five underground floors.
It was built in an area of 20 thousand square meters with modern finishes in its architecture.
The move from ANPG to the new institutions will still take some time, taking into account the changes that will be made inside and outside.
On the other hand, Banco Económico will also need some more time to be able to remove its assets and equip its new premises yet to be announced.
This time, the change of the ANPG could take place in December this year, according to Paulino Jerónimo who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the signing of the Principle Agreement between the ANPG, TotalEnergiesAngola and Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção.
Currently, ANPG works in the Torres do Carmo building, close to the premises of the Government of the Province of Luanda, a space that is starting to get “tight” judging by the various services provided by the National Concessionaire.
The sale of the building by the ‘owners’ of BE, formerly Banco Espírito Santo Angola (BESA) is justified by the need for liquidity to maintain and complete the ongoing restructuring process, according to the publication of March 23 of the Expansion newspaper.
