Africa-Press – Angola. The Formigas do Cazenga School project, in this same municipality in the province of Luanda, has contributed a lot to the integration of young people through sports, said (Wednesday), the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves.
The official made this statement during a visit to the aforementioned centre, where she offered sports and school materials, such as balls and books, to help children and young people, who evolve in that institution of academic training and learning, mainly in basketball.
On site, the minister reiterated the importance of supporting the club, due to the work that the Formigas do Cazenga School has been doing, in favor of children, not only from the point of view of culture, but also from the love of sport.
The transmission of values and a sense of belonging in the community, the positive results obtained by the students of the Formigas do Cazenga School, also merited mention by the head of finance.
He explained that one can, without fear of being wrong, say that it is a project that is very proud of how many Angolans. As a result, we must somehow contribute to its development.
He added that the Ministry of Finance is very honored to be able to support the Formigas do Cazenga School, which has done a lot for the community.
In turn, the president of the Clube Escola Formigas do Cazenga, Ngouabi Salvador, welcomed the availability of the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, who provided an hour and a half to give a lecture to the children and young people who evolve at the center.
He considered it to be a great gesture by the holder of the country’s finance portfolio, for the benefit of children and everyone, who work on the project for the benefit of the community, thanking the illustrious figure, who spoke about his career during his stay at the school in the important position he occupies.
He clarified that the visit of the minister to the school is a curricular strategy of the institution, in putting the prominent figures in contact with the trainees, in the path of others who have already passed there, as is the case of the former star of the NBA, the Frenchman Tony Parker .
Examples include the president of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Gustavo da Conceição, and the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida.
This is not the only support that the school has already received, in July 2021, a memorandum was signed between the French Embassy in Angola, the French Development Agency and Formigas do Cazenga.
The said agreement, which included, in addition to the training of coaches at a distance, the supply of sports material, also covered the repair of the sports court, painting the floor and ten more basketball hoops.
The same action was on the occasion of the arrival of former NBA star, the Frenchman Tony Parker, in Angola, where he fraternized with around 300 children from the association, for initiation, learning to practice sports activities in the municipality of Cazenga.
As part of the cooperation with the illustrious European figure, the young Angolan basketball player Sara Caetano, benefited from a scholarship to study and practice sports at the Tony Parker Academy, in France.
The player in question has already participated in the national youth team, and was recently called to represent Angola in the senior women’s team, in the African Championship of the sport (Afrobasket), in Rwanda.
The project, which has trained other players, also has teams that participate in regular competitions.
