Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General (PGR), Helder Pittra Groz, confirmed, on Thursday, the legality of the detention of the Vice-President of the Angolan Taxi Drivers National Association (ANATA), Rodrigo Luciano Catimba, on suspicion of incitement of violence and rebellion.

Helder Pittra Groz was speaking at the end of a meeting he kept with his Vietname homologist Neguyen Huytien, in the context of institutional cooperation.

According to the magistrate, ANATA’s vice-president was present to the guarantee judge, on Wednesday (6), decided to maintain his detention.

‘Being a court decision, we have to respect, because, regardless of being vice president of an association, it is an Angolan citizen who has to respect the laws,’ he argued.

For this, he added that his civic behavior has to meet the country’s laws.

‘In this sense, it is a court decision that has to be respected by all,’ he said.

Helder Pittra Groz said there were legal mechanisms to appeal the decision, which can be used by his lawyer rather than the appeal to the press or social networks.

‘It is in court that all their claims should be presented about what they find illegal or unfair,’ he said.

Regarding the deaths, he said that the PGR is analyzing the facts, or relating to citizens as to the deceased police.

Rodrigo Luciano Catimba was arrested Thursday (July 31), by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), following Vandalization, Trizza and Piles Acts resulting from the taxi drivers, between July 28 and 30.
