The municipality of Belas in the province of Luanda will exhibit, at the 4th edition of the Feira dos Municípios e Cidades de Angola (FMCA 2023), taking place from the 10th to the 13th of this month, in Lubango, Huíla province, its potential in fields of agriculture, fisheries, tourism and self-directed construction.

At the event, which will take place under the motto “Life is built in the Municipalities”, Belas will illustrate, for example, in terms of the tourist sector, the tourist center “Miradouro da Lua” and the Ponte da Barra do Cuanza”, commune with the same name, located along National Road 100 (EN-100), south of Luanda.

As for self-construction, the architectural projects of residences with private initiative will be exposed, in the urban district of Cabolombo, with an area of ​​53 square kilometers, highlighting the Zona Verde neighbourhood.

In this component of directed self-construction, the municipality will show the projects of Vila do Kuduro, also of private initiative, in the phase of construction of residences of a single standard (plan), with more than a thousand lots of 20X15, in the urban district of Kilamba.

Still in the housing sector, the local authorities will show the centrality of Kilamba, the first urbanization in Angola built by the State with 710 buildings and other social and economic components.

In the field of agriculture, products such as cassava, maize, watermelon, beans, sweet potatoes, okra, eggplant, fruits (mango, cashew, papaya and banana) and vegetables (pepper and cucumber) make up the range of agricultural goods to be presented potential, as well as varieties of fish and shellfish caught in the Curinge, Kwanza and Atlantic Ocean rivers.

These data were provided by the deputy municipal administrator for the technical and infrastructure area, Garibaldino Constantino, who, at the time, said that the district has several potentialities to exhibit at the FMCA 2023.

The municipality of Belas has 40 farms, 10 cooperatives, and at least three thousand families who carry out family farming with the support of the municipal administration.

Created under the Political Division of Luanda and Bengo by Law no 29/11, of September 1st, “Belas” has an area of ​​1 077 square kilometers with six urban districts and a commune.

With at least 700,000 inhabitants, Belas is made up of the districts of Kilamba (headquarters), Quenguela, Ramiros, Vila Verte, Cabolombo, Morro dos Veados, Ramiros and the commune of Barra do Cuanza.

Its population is mainly engaged in commercial, agricultural, livestock and fishing activities.
