Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of Benguela expects to manage a budget of 5.9 billion kwanzas, with the approval of the General State Budget for 2023.
The information was released to the press, on Tuesday, by the director of the Studies and Planning Office (GEP), Miguel Lusolo, on the sidelines of the first ordinary meeting of the Provincial Government of Benguela, chaired by the governor, Luís Nunes.
According to Miguel Lusolo, the global figure for the financial year 2023 for the province of Benguela includes 873 projects, whose priorities point to the social sector.
Among the priorities are education, with the construction of more classrooms, and health, with emphasis on the construction of the Catumbela Regional Hospital, a Mother and Child Center and a Psychiatric Hospital in Benguela.
Energy follows, with its expansion and distribution, as well as the production and distribution of water.
The first Ordinary Meeting of the Provincial Government of Benguela reviewed the province’s integrated infrastructure projects, the province’s political-administrative division, the proposal for a “digital Benguela” technological project, as well as the current status and prospects for development of the agriculture sector.
The situation of mobility and transport, balance of programs and measures to support the productive sector, execution of the State Budget for the financial year of 2022 and the provincial development plan for the five-year period 2023/2027 were also discussed at the meeting.
The province of Benguela, located in the central region of the country, has a territorial extension of 39 thousand, 877 square kilometers and an estimated population of two million, 831 inhabitants (2014 Census). It has ten municipalities namely Benguela, Lobito, Bocoio, Balombo, Catumbela, Baía-farta, Caimbambo, Chongorói, Cubal and Ganda.
