Businessmen appeal to the "common sense" of the AGT in Cuanza Norte

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Cuanza Norte, Nádia Laranjeira, called in Ndalatando, for better action and openness to dialogue on the part of the General Tax Administration (AGT), in its relationship with taxpayers.

Local businessmen complain about the attitude of the technicians from the representative bodies of the AGT in the province, because, in their opinion, they are acting with excessive zeal.

The official, who was speaking at a meeting between the business class and the North Regional Directorate of the AGT, pointed out as worrying the constant requests for clarification and presentation of account reports, cancellation of bank accounts and unjustified fines.

The monitoring of the activity of commercial agents, which focus on repetitive practices of requests for obligations, accompanied by allegedly unjustified fines, also concerns the business class.

In the same vein, the demand for certified invoices for the payment of taxes for periods prior to the validity of the law that imposes such an obligation, is another issue that concerns commercial agents in the province.

The official informed that this action is causing the closure of many companies, which could cause a reduction in tax collections and increase unemployment in the region.

In view of this, he appealed for AGT’s collaboration in removing these and other constraints that disturb the local business class.

In turn, the AGT director for the referred tax region, Ivo Nhany, promised to reinforce the institution’s interaction with taxpayers.

He assured that there will be improvements in the service and processing of processes in the litigation phase, as well as those related to the coercive collection of taxes.

Ivo Nhany said that, in the meeting held with businessmen from Cuanza Norte, the need for renegotiation of some debts and greater disclosure of the general guarantees of taxpayers to assert their rights became clear.

Some businessmen who participated in the meeting praised the initiative, defending the need for the AGT to improve the performance of its local bodies, under penalty of being forced to emigrate to other tax jurisdictions in the country.

Data from the AGT in Cuanza Norte indicate a drop in tax revenues of around three percent, from January to June of the current year, in which 2.7 billion kwanzas were collected, against 2.9 billion in the first half of the year. last year.

The current difficult context of the national economy is pointed out as the main factor for the drop in tax collections.
