Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s participation in the African Super League in football is conditioned due to the penalization of all sporting activities, for two years, which the two-time champions of Angola were targeted.

On Friday, the Disciplinary Council of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) announced the sanction to the most winning club in the “Girabola” National Championship, with 17 titles.

Thus, the African Super League Committee, organizer of this first edition of the event, conditions the presence of the only Angolan representative in the competition, which starts on November 20 and ends in the following month.

In the case where Kabuscorp do Palanca and Académica do Lobito are also involved (also sanctioned), Petro is quoted as having negotiated with coach Agostinho Tramagal a monetary amount to beat 1.o de Agosto in the final point of Girabola2022-23 .

Held on Saturday, the draw for the continental competition placed Petro de Luanda on the route of Mamelodi Sundowns, from South Africa, in the first round.

The event will have the participation of eight teams, instead of the 24 initially planned, namely Petro de Luanda, Simba SC, Enyimba FC, TP Mazembe, Al Ahly SC, Wydad AC, Esperance de Tunis and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The organization of the competition, which will open in Tanzania, stipulates a monetary value for each competitor of US$700,000 (about 577.5 million kwanzas), referring to the participation fee.
