Africa-Press – Angola. Three years after its stoppage, due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival that celebrates the fado music style returns to Luanda in October, in an initiative of Banco Caixa Geral Angola.
The so-called “Festival Caixa Fado 23” resumes on the 20th of October, announced, Thursday, in a press conference, the organizer of events Kayaya Júnior.
He revealed that the 6th edition of the festival will feature national and international artists, such as Pérola, Selda, Toti Sa’med, Bevy Jackson, Camané, Cuca Roseta, Marco Rodrigues, Gisela João, Ricardo Ribeiro and Lenita Gentil.
On the occasion, the chairman of the Executive Committee of Caixa Angola, João Plácido Pires, said that the event, which will mark the 30 years of existence of this banking institution, is a moment to reinforce the bank’s commitment to Angolan society and culture .
He stressed that fado is an intangible heritage of humanity and this edition brings together a remarkable cast of Portuguese fado singers and Angolan artists from different musical styles, in an event that promotes the universality of music and encourages cultural exchange.
As part of the initiative, the launch of the “Caixa Fado” term deposit was also announced, with an interest rate of up to 14.5 percent, in which the first 50 subscriptions will have access to a double invitation to the festival.
