Africa-Press – Angola. The rehabilitation of 180 houses and the construction of five others from scratch are part of the advances of the campaign called “Cimento, Bijolo e Tinta”, underway since February this year, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, province of Luanda .

The information was given Wednesday by the assistant municipal administrator of Icolo e Bengo, for the technical area, Gilberto Adão, noting that the five houses built, type T2, are located in the urban district of Catete while the requalification consists of the plastering, paving and painting facades.

Likewise, the construction of fence walls, the installation of doors and windows, electrical installations and plumbing are part of the improvement work.

Gilberto Adão said that of the 180 houses, 93 are located in Rua da Rotunda and Rua das Morenas, on the outskirts of the village of Catete, seat of the municipality of Icolo and Bengo, while the rest are in the communes of Cabíri and Cassoneca.

“The work continues, because in fact there are still many families in poor living conditions, whether in the village of Catete or in other areas of the municipality”, he assured.

According to the official, the Cement Brick and Paint campaign is improving the lives of the citizens and, by way of example, a family that for lack of conditions to continue paying the rent was evicted, the local administration, realizing what had happened, built a T2-type house from scratch for you.

The person in charge made it known that this campaign, an initiative of the local administration, will be continuous and has the support of businessmen based in the municipality.

Campaign serves as a model

Gilberto Adão informed that this initiative is being replicated in other provinces, such as Cuanza Sul and Namibe, proving to be an impactful project.

“In fact, it is a model project and we have information that the province of Malanje will also start to implement, all of this gives us strength to continue and evidence that we are on the right track” explained the official.

Alongside the “Cement, Brick and Paint” campaign, the administration of Icolo e Bengo is developing other projects aimed at the well-being of citizens, such as “Administrator in My Neighborhood” and “Light in My Band”.

The municipality of Icolo e Bengo, 62 kilometers from the city of Luanda, has 131,268 inhabitants distributed in the communes of Bom Jesus, Cabíri, Cassoneca, Caculo Cahango and the urban district of Catete.
