More than a thousand university students, from all provinces and abroad, begin today, in Luanda, a day of political and social reflection, under the motto “University youth, united, let us participate in the 2022 General Elections”, a integrated action in the 18th edition of the National Holiday Camp for University Students (CANFEU).
The event, which runs until the 4th of this month, at Complexo do Futungo II, will be attended by the president of the MPLA, João Lourenço, at the opening ceremony. The national secretary of JMPLA, who is responsible for the CANFEU brand, said, in statements to Jornal de Angola, that young people will appreciate matters related to the reduction of the unemployment rate, within the scope of PAPE, to promote sports activities and cultural presentations. Crispiniano dos Santos added that contact will also be made with the guidelines of the MPLA Government Program for 2022-2027 and with the electoral manifesto. This point, he said, includes an appreciation of Luanda’s socio-economic development status. In the following days, they will talk about the “state of higher education in Angola”.
“Previously, we had few higher education institutions in Angola. But from 2017 to 2022, we found that the Executive carried out a great job, thus allowing a significant advance in this field”, he acknowledged. In this perspective, he said, the event will praise this achievement, and present ideas that compete for the offer of more educational institutions, to meet the demand.
The national secretary of JMPLA, Crispiniano dos Santos, said that young people will appeal to the Executive to promote more actions to promote youth entrepreneurship, in order to create more jobs. “That’s why in this camp, the more than a thousand young people will become true agents of change and promoters of the development of our country”, he highlighted.
With this edition, JMPLA intends to continue mobilizing Angolan youth for their affirmation and commitment to the country, endorsing the decisive factor in the realization of the main challenges facing the Nation.
CANFEU is a national event, organized by JMPLA, whose purpose is volunteering and solidarity, promoting education for citizenship, as well as cultural and patriotic exaltation. This edition takes place in a particular context, judging by the General Elections held on 24 August. Therefore, he insisted on underlining Crispiniano dos Santos, it presents itself for the promotion of unity, reflection, citizenship and youth dialogue, work, recreation, sport and culture. It also allows for the sharing of experiences, which brings together university youth from all over the country and students from abroad.
CANFEU thus involves university students in socially useful tasks, by engaging in projects aimed at reconstruction, national development and solidarity, with a view to recovering social, economic and environmental infrastructures.
