Africa-Press – Angola. The construction of the first photovoltaic power plant in the municipality of Cazombo, the capital of the eastern Province of Moxico Leste, with a capacity to supply 25 megawatts to nearly 80,000 people, is 28% completed.
The Provincial Government of Moxico Leste is monitoring the progress of the 2nd-largest electricity project in the province, after Luau, also under construction, which will have the capacity to generate a total of 25 megawatts of clean, environmentally friendly energy.
The Vice-Governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure of the Province of Moxico Leste, Mário Anderson Mutupa, observed the progress of the construction, which is expected to be completed in November of this year.
Upon completion of the project, which has already created more than 200 jobs for young Angolans, 79.982 consumers in the town of Cazombo and surrounding communities will benefit.
The Government of Moxico Leste considers the investment an important step towards diversifying the province’s energy matrix, contributing to improving the quality of life of local populations and the sustainable development of the region.
