Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 157 new cases of cholera were registered in the last 24 hours in the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza-Norte, Benguela, Malanje, Icolo & Bengo, Bengo, Cabinda and Zaire.
According to the Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), which updates the cholera numbers in the country, 7 casualties were also reported in the last 24 hours, being 3 in Benguela and Luanda, and a single case in Bengo.
According to the statement, out of the 157 new cases reported, 51 are from Luanda, 35 from Cuanza-Norte, 30 from Benguela, 14 from Malanje, 12 from Icolo e Bengo, 5 from Cabinda and a case in Zaire.
During the aforementioned period, 89 people were discharged and 252 people still hospitalized.
Since the outbreak began last Jan, a total of 8,892 cases have been reported, of which 4,252 in Luanda, 2,520 in Bengo, 831 in Icolo & Bengo, 584 in Cuanza-Norte, 279 in Benguela, 232 in Malanje, 55 in Cabinda, 53 in Zaire, 36 in Cuanza-Sul, 23 in Huambo, 15 in Uige, 7 in Huíla, 2 in Bié, 1 in Cunene, Cubango and Lunda-Sul.
So far, 342 deaths has occurred, of which 159 were in Luanda, 97 in Bengo, 40 in Cuanza-Norte, 21 in Icolo & Bengo, 13 in Benguela, 6 in Malanje, 3 in Cuanza-Sul, 2 in Zaire and 1 in Cabinda.
