Combating corruption builds credibility for the State and its institutions - APN

Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Patriotic Alliance (APN), Quintino Moreira, defended this Saturday, in the city of Uíge, that the fight against corruption, underway in the country since 2017, should reach all those involved, for the moralization of society and to build credibility the state and its institutions.

The politician, who was speaking on the sidelines of the seminar on local authorities, considered corruption one of the evils that plague the State, society and the quality of democracy.

For this reason, he considered that a corrupt State loses legitimacy, since it renders the rule of law ineffective and ends up losing the trust of the people.

On the other hand, he highlighted the importance of implementing macroeconomic policies aimed at improving the economy’s supply potential, by promoting the efficiency of markets and activity sectors that contribute to a higher growth rate of the economy’s real product.

Quintino Moreira reasoned that structural policies should be created that reduce the weight of the public sector in the economy, transform the less productive into more productive ones, adjust wages to the cost of living and other measures for medium and long-term economic growth.

Due to the current situation in the country, Quintino Moreira understands that it is necessary to implement local authorities, as a kind of counter-power capable of balancing and mitigating the most varied concerns faced by the Angolan population.
