Africa-Press – Angola. The 2nd commander of the National Police in the province of Huambo, sub-commissioner António Ambrósio Salvador Chagas, considered, this Monday, important the training of the staff in matters of human rights, for the full accomplishment of the mission.
The official commissioner spoke during the training of the National Police staff assigned to the provincial Commands of Benguela, Bié, Cuanza Sul and Huambo, on human rights matters, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
On the occasion, the 2nd Commander stated that, in military institutions, training and education prove to be decisive instruments for the success of the tasks emanated, within the framework of guaranteeing public order and tranquility, taking into account the current challenges of the National Police .
He referred that the National Police, as responsible for monitoring the Law, must equip itself with knowledge that allows compliance with the rules that protect the interests of citizens, above all, those related to human rights and the dignity of the human person.
Sub-commissioner António Chagas said that National Police agents have increased responsibilities in respecting the maintenance of fundamental norms in society.
Therefore, he asked the staff to learn about matters related to human rights, so that, with professionalism, they restore legality and respond to the concerns of the citizen.
The official commissioner praised the partnership between the Ministries of the Interior and of Justice and Human Rights, for enhancing military personnel, who have a lot to learn to preserve the rights of citizens and, at the same time, the image of the corporation.
He hoped that the training would provide sufficient tools for national and international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, the code of conduct and specific norms for all staff, as entities responsible for maintaining the law.
In turn, the delegate for Justice and Human Rights in Huambo province, Alfredo Felo Sachiliva, called for the permanent need to apply mechanisms to protect the interests of citizens, with a view to consolidating national democracy.
He asked for permanent dialogue between public and private institutions, for a better promotion and protection of civil, political, economic and social rights of citizens, essential in the harmonization of society.
Respect for human rights, according to the official, requires greater preparation from its operators, to respond, in a timely manner, to the concerns presented to them.
During the training, held in the auditorium of the Huambo Provincial Library, subjects were taught on “Civil, economic, cultural, political and social rights”, “National and international human rights mechanisms” and “Code of conduct and specific norms for application of law”.
