Africa-Press – Angola. The six Angolan fishermen detained for more than two months by the maritime security authorities in Ponta-Negra have already returned, this Thursday, to Cabinda, after being released.
After completing the payment formalities of the fine of one million Congolese CFas, Angolan citizens were free to return to their families.
The six fishermen had been accused of violating the territorial waters of Ponta-Negra, for illegally entering the Congo Sea, due to a breakdown in the small motor boat.
By the way, in the city of Ponta-Negra, on the sidelines of the joint meeting on defense and security, at the level of governors of Cabinda and the City Hall of Ponta-Negra, Mara Quiosa referred that the matter was the subject of discussion that culminated in the mutual understanding in the release of fishermen.
“We took the matter to the discussion table and in the framework of the relaunch of good relations and good neighborliness, the situation was considered outdated” he said.
Mara Quiosa also underlined the efforts of the Angolan diplomatic representation in the Republic of Congo for the release of the six fishermen.
On his turn, the secretary general of the Ponta-Negra communes, representing the Mayor, Alexandre Hionoré Paka, advanced that Angola and Congo enjoy excellent relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation and this environment is also reflected in the neighboring provinces, in the case of Cabinda.
According to the official, good relations should be seen as an opportunity to solve problems together and continue to work to strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation.
