Consul General Highlights South African Business Mission Success

Africa-Press – Angola. The Consul General of Angola to Cape Town, Elsa Caposso Vicente, on Saturday described as positive the South African business mission that toured four provinces of the country.

The diplomat was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a celebratory dinner hosted by the Huambo provincial government, which marked the conclusion of the South African delegation’s visit to the region, following a week of activities in the agriculture, livestock, tourism, mining, logistics, technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors.

Elsa Caposso Vicente highlighted the cooperation environment and the signing of several memoranda of understanding between companies from the two countries, which are among the 16 member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

She said that the excursion allowed the economic potential of the provinces of Huambo, Benguela, Bié and Huíla to be presented, with the signing of memoranda of intent, aimed at the interest of South African companies in the areas of industrial development, mining, livestock, agriculture, technology and tourism.

She added that the excursion was attended by 56 South African companies, which demonstrated great interest in investing in the Angolan production sector.

She highlighted the effective implementation of the commitments made as the main challenge, as “the important thing now is not to miss the next day, to promote unity, strengthen local relations, and create more jobs.”

Elsa Caposso Vicente thanked the governments of the provinces of Huambo, Benguela, Bié, and Huíla, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola for the institutional support provided throughout the South African business delegation’s presence in Angola.

Dinner marks the end of the mission

The dinner, held at one of the hotels in the city of Huambo, was presided over by the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, in the presence of South African and national businesspeople, public officials, and representatives of the Angolan Consulate General in Huambo.

The event was enlivened by performances by musicians Preta Francisco, Hander Dub, and Tio Hossi, which created an atmosphere of cultural exchange and fellowship.

During their stay in Huambo, the South African business delegation participated in a cultural soiree, met with local businesspeople, and visited mining, logistics, agricultural, and livestock projects in the municipalities of Caála, Chicala-Cholohanga, and Longonjo, in addition to traveling to the provinces of Benguela and Bié.

The mission aimed to strengthen economic cooperation ties between Angola and South Africa, fostering strategic partnerships and attracting foreign direct investment to priority sectors of the national economy.
