Africa-Press – Angola. The Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), Angolan Fátima Jardim, received a delegation from the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) on Tuesday (12), in Lisbon.
The meeting, held at CPLP headquarters, aimed to deepen cooperation in public health among CPLP Member States, focusing on strategic areas such as combating high-impact chronic diseases and training and capacity-building for professionals.
The cooperation also includes the use of innovative techs and Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as the integration of the business sector and the creation of financing mechanisms to strengthen health systems.
On the occasion, the Brazilian delegation also held an inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ABC, CPLP, and Fiocruz, which formalized the parties’ commitment to develop joint and sustainable solutions for health-related challenges in Portuguese-speaking countries.
This understanding includes projects aimed at improving human development indicators in the area of public health, training and qualification of professionals, the promotion of research, and the encouragement of technological innovation.
The Brazilian delegation, led by Ambassador Rui Ferreira of the ABC, included Juliano Feres Nascimento, Brazil’s permanent representative to the CPLP, members of the Brazilian Diplomatic Mission, and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz).
